If it does, our drought might be so severe we'll *need * a hurricane to put a dent in it. Anyone have any idea/educated guess when we might get our next meaningful rainfall? Does not seem likely in the near future.....

Wednesday you may see some showers as the ridge temporarily weakens with a weak boundary settling south. Latest GFS shows that the you may get some convergence coastal showers coming in from the Bahamas to stick around through the end of the week with a persistent easterly wind. 12z GFS shows total rainfall to maybe get close to 1" in some areas. Keep your fingers crossed.

this weather is so awesome! i feel this is mother nature's version of restitution for that horrendous weather back in december. much of interior florida is in the mid 80's and it's even 80 here thanks to a muted sea breeze and rapidly warming shelf waters. if you're visiting florida soon, you've hit a weather jackpot.

Not good - fire season is underway in a big way and Florida could use a good wet system at this point...

Yeah, we can sure use some rain that's for sure. Wildfires have already occured in St. John's county within the past couple of days. We did not get much rainfall with that decayed frontal passage warlier today, as I only measured about a tenth of an inch at my location. Rain is in the forecast for late Saturday into Sunday, so hopefully we can get some signifciant amounts. It is needed badly as we head into spring.

Just back from a week in Florida. What a beautiful time. Watched Discovery launch on Thursday....spectacular! Then picked up my sister and headed to the Keys. Beautiful weekend in Key West. We did run into a few showers in the Panhandle on the drive home.....MGC

Fire season has begun here in FL. Here in Tallahassee, we've has ash falling on and off throughout the day. That mixed with high pollen levels has made breathing difficult for some, and it has made my eyeballs dry as well. I think this is from one of the prescribed burns in the area, but with the big fire on I-95 and the easterly winds from earlier it might be from that as well.

I believe there's a fire over by Orlando that's 16k acres...The season is here. By the way, NWS Miami Is going to be down from 8am-4pm. NWS Key West is going to be taking over for them while they are down.

Miami AFD backing down on rain today. Squall line over Gulf fell apart, air over mainland too stable for regeneration. Crummy....I was hoping for a little storminess today....

MUCH needed drought relief today. The lowest rain total I could find across Tampa Bay was 2/3rds of an inch, with some totals ranging over 2". Similar conditions across the state. A few record daily rainfall totals were set as well.

It got down to 31.6 degrees at my home here in north Jax earlier this morning.

This is the 31st freeze of the 2010-2011 winter season to occur for this area.

NWS office in Jacksonville set a record low temperature for this date also of 32 degrees earlier this morning, breaking the old mark of 33 degrees set in 1998.

Looks like we will have one more cool noight tonight with some scattered frost expected by morning. Expecting low-mid 30s inland areas early Sunday. Otherwise, we are just having beautiful weather, although we still could use more rain for sure!

I think this brief cool snap we have currently in North FL will likely be the final significant one of this season.

Was upper 50s this morning....very pleasant. This will help hold summer at bay for just a little while longer.
