There was one before that one in Kingston I believe. Damage actually looks pretty bad there from what I've seen.

Any idea why the big hail didn’t materialize? Seems to be a completely tornado event

Hard to tell without looking at a nearby sounding. Part of it may actually be that the larger hail did materialize but just wasn't reported. Often times this happens on big tornado days. Hail takes a back seat. It's one of the reasons why we (NWS) underestimate hail, especially if we go heavy on using reports.

San Antonio dodged a bullet today. Godspeed to everyone east of IH-35 & prayers to all that received damage from today’s storms.

Thankful we dodged the severe wx bullet but also received very little much needed precip. Areas to our northwest, west, and south are a tinderbox ready to ignite (and probably will sometime this week) Would have been nice to get a little more rain with nothing in the forecast for the next 7-10 days.

Glad the northern hill country and large parts of TX got some good rain today despite the severe wx. It was much needed.

Good news DFW did receive 0.45" of much needed rain.

Bad news that brings the monthly total to 0.75" and not much more is looking likely for March. In turn we will add another 2.85" to the deficit.

All I can say is that I am thankful for the rain and it's a lot more than many people were saying we were going to get about a week ago.

That's generally case east to west. Totals usually end up higher east of I-35 up here. Their average is higher also, don't get me wrong it's much needed, but I'm afraid in the end we needed more than the monthly average by a lot to start the chipping away. If April and May doesn't come through we're headed for exceptional, highest, category drought.

Large tornado on the ground near Gilmer, and a PDS warning for another tornado near Crockett. A third one may be forming near Tyler.
