That might drag the hail core across our area.

Southern Collin county is definitely under the gun for the big hail.

Thank you for saying this when you did. As I was joking about my sirens this debris ball comment made me get serious. I have my brother-in-law and sister-in-law that were almost right under this and then a few minutes later my mom. I got both sets in their closets. My moms neighbors fence is down but otherwise they thing everyone is ok.

Glad you folks are ok.

Kudos to Bubba for bringing the severe threat earlier. The ramp up of Priscilla out of nowhere in the EPAC likely helped juice it all up.

Yikes, not good that a tornado touched near downtown. Saw a video on twitter and hoping everyone is okay.

My moms chimney and fence are down and tons of shingles. Don’t know if it was tornado or straight line but it was nearby.

Growing up in Texas sirens don’t worry me. They get my attention but I take a quick peek and live life. The Phrase ”debris ball” holds a far more sinister and more immediate danger. Tonight it may be look at the path more precisely to see who I know in the path. Thanks again.

Accidentally posted in spring thread.

Been watching the rotating storm that went thru north Dallas between 9-9:30 PM tonight. Fire Department scanner has reports of multiple building collapses with injuries. Including El Rancho at Walnut Hill and Marsh, Walnut Hill Elementary, houses at Royal and Hillcrest, Thomas Jefferson High School, 635 and Greenville, Forest and Tollway, Harry Hines and Walnut Hill, and many more. From the sounds of it there are many buildings damaged or collapsed and many roads impassable because of limbs, debris, and power lines.

From what I have heard on the scanner and the velocity signatures on radar, the path of wind damage looks like this:

Looks like DFW didn’t get much, so hopefully the current skinny line gets wider or they may not get even a half inch.

Damage looks pretty bad also.

If you follow Jeff Piotrowski' on twitter, he has video of a large stove pipe Tornado going through Dallas.

Yes, extensive damage across Dallas. I work for the City. All call for fire and police, first time in 30 years.

From DFWScanner.net:

“Dallas Fire-Rescue continues to search houses that have been impacted by the storm. Some have collapsed. Some have had their roofs blown off. At least several dozen (probably more) residential structures have sustained significant damage.

There have also been major damage to commercial buildings along Walnut Hill Lane and Marsh Lane.”

These are the same areas that had the straightline winds tree apocalypse back in June.

It's not often you see a "debris ball" signature that defined for so long. Simply because in this case, it was going over a heavy populated area so plenty of things to throw up into the air and radar picked it up quite well. And where there is a debris ball, there is likely significant damage.
