I don't know if it is really weather related or not, but July 4 I climbed Mount of the Holy Cross with my son on a perfect weather day.

Since most of the west seems to be roasting in the heat I thought some would enjoy these photos of the snowy mountains. I hope you enjoy them.

Your photo of your son reminds me of a picture taken of me sitting at the summit of Mt. Evans in August. There wasn't any snow on the peaks surrounding peaks but looking out upon them all was breath taking! You REALLY felt like you were on top of the world then!

Here's one from yesterday (July 26) on Sand Mountain. Both children liked playing in the snow.

scott...would you like to do a houseswap? You're more than welcome to take over my home right now. It's a tad bit warm though...highs in the upper 90's and heat index over 100. I'd say it'd be a fair trade!!! Image Image

If we also could make a trade in winter.

Actually, it's been in the 90's at our house too lately. It's only in the mountains nearby that there is still snow. The 90's aren't as bad up here as in the south though. It actually cools off at night. Today's high was 92, but it was 37 this morning.

Anyway, you should come visit the mountains sometime. It would be a nice break from the heat. We'll try and send some cool air your way.

Great pics, Scott!

And wow at the temp difference - 37 for a low and 92 for a high. So you start the day off in a jacket and by mid-afternoon, you could be sunbathing by the pool... 8-)

Today was an even bigger difference. I had 36 at the house this morning and the official high was 96. No one in town has a pool though and not many people that would wear a jacket at 36 unless it was windy.

Mornings do feel good, so I feel for the places that may only get down to 70 or 80 at night.

They say that Denver is reaching or has reached a record for the longest stretch of 90 degree days.

I'd say that anyone that can go to Colorado should. The Front Range and the Rockies are unbelievable. I've never been to the north western part of the state though, only through the Rockie Mountain National Park. I've been down to the New Mexico border and have seen the Great Sand Dune Park, the Spanish Peaks and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
