Is California weather screwed up??

I'm in my early 40s and live in Sacramento, and I remember back when I was in my mid to late teens and early 20s how there use to be thunderstorms almost everyday over the sierra nevada mountains. I would look toward the mountains and use to see towering cumulonimbus clouds boiling up over the mountains, but over the last few years, those thunderstorms seem to be weak or ust a few days every summer now... It's a very obvious change.

I also use to remember really wet Spring seasons.. Storms would roll in and and after the storms roll out, we'd have scattered showers and thunderstorms the next day...(that rarely happens anymore either)...

I'm not too sure what would cause this, but it's so obvious that I thought I would point this out...

Interesting question.

What I remember from my summers in CA during the 60's was that summer was the dry time and everything was brown and winter was the wet time and everything was green which was totally opposite of what I have always experienced growing up and living on the Gulf Coast. My time when there visiting was spent in the Tracy and Pleasanton areas East of San Francisco.

I talked to someone here in sacramento who's a local meteorologist and he said, yep, the thunderstorms in the sierra nevada range have all but dissapeared compared to how they use to be years ago...So I'm glad that he noticed it too :P
