First snow

Fist snow of the season fell today (Oct 21); the first snow we've had since June 11.

What is unusual about this first snow is it is the latest it has ever been since we have lived here and it is only a skiff. Usually we've had at least a few good snows by this time of year.

Strange. Many other places have been seeing much earlier snows this year. Boise, ID saw its earliest accumulating snow on record and Salt Lake City, UT saw their fourth earliest on record. I wonder why it happened to be so late in your area?

First snows (light flurries) of the season here in Niagara Falls ON today as well, on an unseasonably cold day.
Nothing sticking to the ground.. should be warming up in the next few days though.

When those places had the snow it was cold enough to snow here, but the precipitation mostly has missed us. It is supposed to be 7F tonight, but clear. Though we've had a few good rains other than September every month since May has been quite a bit drier than normal. The mountains don't have much snow at all for this time of year.

Salt Lake Airport did tie their 4th earliest snow on record, but after looking at the records it was only 0.1 inces of snow on the 11th, so not a huge record (next day was .4 inches). The benches usually get far more now than the airport though.
