This MAY have been a waterspout. No reports of a funnel but it could have been rain wrapped or obscured by spray.

In Hampton we had trees down near where a low hanging wall cloud was observed by me while at work.

No injuries were reported in either incident. This type of weather happens in SE VA in January more than what you might think.

Strange event for sure. Lots of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings despite very few reports of lightning...I guess they figure it is convective enough?

Come to think of it while there was ample wind and rain I dont recall hearing thunder.

NUMEROUS TREES REPORTED DOWN BETWEEN CORAPEAKE AND
SAVAGE. SPOTTER REPORTED TWO PEAK WIND GUSTS BETWEEN 700
PM AND 730 PM OF 83 AND 81 MPH

Keep in mind this is non thunderstorm. This type of wind is rare in this part of the country except in severe thunderstorms or tropical cyclones..and very rarely noreasters.
