The question was raised, how often does 100 or more reports of tornadoes occur in a day?

So I did some quick data checking, back to the year of 2000.

What I found is that there has never been a single day that has recorded 100 plus tornado reports but 2 day periods have.

There have been days with 100+ reports. Now 100+ confirmed might be a different story.

I only went back to May 2003.

Other than April 3, 1974, I can't think of any days with 100 or more confirmed tornadoes. Maybe in May 2003/2004?

Multi-day outbreaks with over 100 tornadoes confirmed are not unheard of by any means though. From a single system, the last time it happened I believe was May 4-6, 2007 (123 tornadoes). From multiple systems coming rapidly, there were about 600 tornadoes from May 7 to June 15 last year.
