Looking forward to reading your winter outlook, Harry. Here is an early thought - I believe the trend in the Northeast/mid-Atlantic of troughiness will continue through at least January. So I am hopeful for a reasonably cold and snowy winter in those areas.

Chances are I will probably see some snow. Can't wait to see the winter outlook Harry! :)

Has the F* word been mentioned???

:D
No, I don't mean THE F word, I mean frost. I've been checking out the medium range forecasts for the Ohio Valley and noticed that around the second week of September temps are going to get mighty cool. Although none of the forecasts dropped the lows into the 30s, the coldest forecast here in Dayton was 43. If this pattern continues, frost may not be out of the question for many parts of the Ohio Valley. Wxrisk also picks up on this. Any thoughts???

Thanks,

Meso

ps. I really like this site and I look forward to many exciting posts! I just recently was invited to this site- after posting at TWC. This one seems much more active than there, and the folks seem nicer here than at Wright. Hope this site continues to grow!!!

Hi Meso! Frost in the northern Great Lakes and northern New England certainly is not out of the question for the 2nd week of September. I doubt as though places further south (including Ohio) will see frost that early.

I'm with you StormCrazyIowan! We need to jump out of this heat, and into the frigid cold and snow!! Once fall starts, we should really get a good idea of what will happen this year.

Some people are considering 1960 as a analog for this winter.............Of coruse, We'd have to have a Donna-Like storm some time this 'Cane season.

Well DEL...........Keep your eyes on that Atlantic i have a bad feeling that we may just see that....................Td9 is looking very impressive btw...................And as well have a whole train of systems comming across the Atlantic as i type this......................Add that with a new trough and coldfront dropping into the eastern US timming will be a big issue as well as where or how far south the front makes it and where the trough does set up........................For TD9 FL needs to keep a eye on this one first....................Then the question begins as to will it get shunted off to the wnw back into the gulf or will the front pick it up along the eastcoast........................For more great info on this check into the tropical forum and the winter update will be out shortly as i said earlier.......................BTW Del have you checked out my stories about past events in Delaware in the History forum???????
