Wow, long list. Should get even longer the next couple days. I am sure pretty much every station in the Upper Midwest broke records today. Some of them may be "Warmest So Early" as well.

I'm surprised the list wasn't longer for April 1st but good lord today is going to be obscene!!!! The list is going to be huge because the forecast highs for southern Ontario and even Northern Ontario areas are all pretty much in "uncharted territory" for early April. The forecast is like 9ºC above the previous record for some areas I have checked which I have never seen before and around 15ºC-19ºC above normal!!!!!

I'm sure Good Friday 2010 will be the hottest ever for southern Ontario and probably in the top 3 if not the hottest in our lifetimes (for us living here that is). Temperatures like 26ºC in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor, London, etc. and a call for 27ºC in Montreal is hard to comprehend for April 2. The only temperature event that is more impressive than this that I know of (for Spring) was the March 8, 2000 one.

yeah cycle! i agree, it will likely be the warmest Good Friday that Southern Ontario has ever seen, i can't say for certainty because the dates of Good Friday are changeable.

But here are some facts:
Toronto's record for Apr 2 is 20.6C 69F set in 1967 and
for Apr 3 is 22.2C 72F set in 1981

These will be obliterated, among many of the other cities in Southern, Central and Northern Ontario.
Warmest temps so early in year for Toronto:
Mar 8 2000 21.8C 72F
Mar 22 1938 24.4C 76F
Mar 28 1945 25.6C 78F
Mar 30 1998 25.3C 77F
Mar 31 1998 25.4C 77F
Apr 1 1986 25.8C 78F

Apr 7 1991 27.6C 82F
Apr 16 2002 29.6C 86F

Incidentally, the hottest temp in April for Toronto Pearson is 31.1C 88F set Apr 25 1990.

I think some places, especially in inland Michigan, could make a run at 90 today...

Unbelieveable to see all-time April records broken on the 2nd day of the month. If this happened a couple days ago, the March record books would have been practically rewritten everywhere.

Yeah, that is something that hasn't crossed my mind but it would have been cool to see March 31 harbor in some insane records.

It definitely seemed more humid on Friday than Thursday but I was annoyed by the very thin layer of overcast that came later on in the afternoon which tends to happen during these types of days. The wind started to pick up quite a bit too. Where is K-W, Midland, Cochrane, and others on that list? I know for sure they had to have broken the previous records by like 10ºC at least! :) Places like Cochrane reached 29ºC yesterday and what is so mind-boggling is that the average maximum temperature for that town is 3.1ºC. The record (from 1912-1993) was 13ºC set in 1988! Talk about totally annihilating a previous record!

Some of the margins that records where beaten by are insane in eastern ontario, If memory serves petawawas earlier record for april 2nd was in the range of 14 deg C so that record went down by over 15 ded c. Honestly describing that as shattering the record just doesn't give it the due it deserves.
