wow very amazing. Looks like a vibrant Malaysian Dwarf coconut palm. I wonder if it will survive this. Thanks for the pics...

Interesting that the strike appears not to travel down the palm, as they do up here with the oaks. Don't see any stripping off of the bark either.
Glad you all are ok, and Mother Nature put out her doings. Nice of her. Thank goodness for surge protectors too.
Thanks for posting the pictures and comments Hurakan.

You're lucky it didn't travel. Had that happen to us several years ago. Hit the band directors stand about 350' from my house. Traveled down the street. Fried my alarm system. Did nothing to my neighbor who was outside and saw it happen and he was holding an umbrella!

Wow... kind of an eerie picture with the fire and the lightning just confined to the upper section of the tree. Thanks for sharing!!

Ditto! Seen similar tree strike come through the air into the nearby wall of office building and fried network and modem boards in nearest computers which were unplugged from electricity source.
Awesome pics, Hurakan!!

Working for Fedex for almost 22 years now, I can honestly say, that is a very scary moment when lightning strikes that close to you! If you would have been outside, you could have probably heard the molecules in the air sizzle! I've had that happen!!! From that day on I learned a very valuable lesson: ALWAYS KEEP AN EXTRA CHANGE OF CLOTHES WITH YOU!!!

Thanks for sharing!

Palm trees normally don't survive a lightning strike. You will see just the trunk in a few days.

I just saw this post now. What a shame - the palm tree took it for the rest of the neighborhood. Great pictures!
