WeatherFest is a yearly outreach event put on every year by the National Weather Service. This event has been held in Tallahassee for the past two years, but has been decided to be held by the NWS Office in Jacksonville on February 26th, 2011 from 10:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M. If you like weather, games, or just like science and outreach in general, this is one of the biggest events NWS puts on each year.
Some of the activities on the agenda are a basic SkyWarn Storm Spotter Certification, Forecast and radar simulation, TV Met round table, and a LOT of NWS/NOAA booths. There are also activities for kids (or just kids at heart!). Some of the sponsors and exhibitors are the FSU Meteorology Department, The University of North Florida, the NWS, the Red Cross, and many more.
I will be there all day and then some. I'm probably going to be doing some sort of presentation during the course of the event, but I will also be out an about with some free time. If anyone wants to meet up for a few minutes, please feel free to let me know.
