2011 SE TX/SW LA Weather: Nice weather next several days
I'm soooo thankful that the cold cold weather is (hopefully) past us. It got up to 77 today and was absolutely gorgeous. It cooled down once the sun went down and was chilly enough at the ballpark to put on a sweatshirt. Helloooooooooo Spring

Beautiful weather for the krewe of rio parade this coming saturday night. Any locals....i'm on the royalty float, the beautiful vegas bride!
Well vegas bride, how was it? I imagine you had a great time if your weather was as nice as ours was. A little too windy for my liking, but otherwise gorgeous weather. WE NEED RAIN though. Looks like we could be heading right back into severe drought. No rain for almost 3 weeks. Last moisture coming down from the sky here was in the form of an ice storm.

Re: 2011 SE TX/SW LA Weather: Ahhhhh Love that Spring!
Got up this morning and opened the blinds and looked out the window and thought my glasses were really dirty. When I took them off to clean them it looked the same. That's when I figured out it was a pea soup fog that had set in overnight.
We had a high of 75f today under mostly sunny skies. Got my fence rehab finished, but I'm too tired(aka as lazy and fat)to bundle up the limbs and bushes I have cut back to put out for trash. That will have to wait for next weeks trash. May cut back on the outside activities a little this weekend if the temps remain as coolish as they now say.

Re: 2011 SE TX/SW LA Weather: Ah Love that Spring! Rain Saturday
Jeff's morning email:
Sea fog has made its return to the area this morning with very dense fog along the coast especially around Matagorda Bay. Visibilities have been averaging 1/4th of a mile or less from Port Lavaca to Palacios to Galveston to High Island this morning. Expect the sea fog to linger much of the morning and possibly much of the day along the coast as dewpoints have risen over near shore water temperatures. Sea fog will advance inland again after sunset this evening with visibilities tanking. Light winds tonight ahead of the cold front Saturday will likely promote some thick sea fog possibly as far inland as I-10.
Upper level storm system over the Rockies will eject into the central plains today and Saturday which will drag a cold front across the region early Saturday. Moisture levels will continue to increase today and tonight ahead of this front and then stronger dynamics come to bear across the region between about 600am Saturday and noon. Capping inversion is in place over the area today and will slowly weaken early Saturday. Forecast soundings especially from the NAM show the cap weakening enough for a few thunderstorms as frontal convergence looks strong enough to bust through any remaining capping.
Expect light rain to begin to develop within the sea fog after 300am and become more widespread by 600am as the front and strong lift approach from the west. Convection (thunderstorms) will likely backbuild SW from NW LA and E TX Saturday morning along the frontal boundary. Do not expect a solid line of storms, but more scattered in nature with better coverage likely near the coast where the best moisture and splitting jet structure is noted. Severe threat looks marginal at best given unfavorable time of day (morning) and weak instability, but a few storms could be strong. Rainfall amounts will average .25 to .75 of an inch.
Rain should end fairly quickly behind the front, but clouds look to linger much of the day and with increasing NW winds and cold air advection it will feel much colder. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50’s and low 60’s behind the front and hold steady in that range much of the day.
High pressure builds over the region Saturday night with skies clearing and light winds expect good radiational cooling. Lows in the upper 30’s to 40 are likely and a few locations could see some frost Sunday morning.
Moisture return begins again by Monday as the next storm system heads from the Rockies toward the central plains. Dynamics look much more impressive with this upper level storm system and capping may be weaker suggesting at better shot at thunderstorms next Wednesday.

Yikes that weather was nasty and quite scary! Poor acadia parish. The news is saying at least 1 death, 50 injuries and now a gas leak. The high school there was hit hard. I've got some friends that live in rayne but they're east of the town and they're ok. The lost the roof to their gazebo. They were very very lucky.
