Galveston winds.

I know Texas is drought ridden, but I have a quick question concerning the wind speeds in Galveston over the past couple of months. Is it just me, or is it a fact that along with the drought if the Galveston area has a lot more wind than in the past, or is this just a normal summer thing?

I love to pier fish, but fishing in winds >12 mph really isn't much fun with lines crossing and fish not really biting. I'm awaiting some 5 mph or so winds so I can get back to the piers and do some fishing.

All of SE TX, if not all of TX has been windier than usual. I know here in the Spring Branch area of Houston it certainly has been windier than normal. That is part of the cause of the drought as the winds help to dry the soils even quicker.
