Living Waters Assembly of God, 622 Commerce Street in Magnolia, is giving out donated clothing Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Pets: The Montgomery County Animal Shelter will handle displaced animals. Call 936-422-7738 to request assistance.
Monetary donations: Montgomery County United Way has set up a fund for monetary donations to help fire victims in Montgomery County. Send checks to MCUW, P.O. Box 8965, The Woodlands TX 77387. Note "Fires 2011" in the memo line. To make a credit card donation, call 888-825-6289, ext. 235, or go online to http://www.mcuw.org and click on "Give Now."
The American Red Cross also is accepting monetary donations to help with its sheltering efforts and victims' immediate needs. Donate at http://www.houstonredcross.org and click on "Donate Now."
In Kind donations of clothing, household items: The Tomball Fire Department is collecting donations for firefighters and evacuees of antascis, sunglasses, safety goggles, face masks, eye wash, gum, 12 packs of soda, safety goggles, underwear, disposable breathing masks, CLIFF brand energy bars, baby wipes, vaseline, lip balm, nasal spray, pain relievers, shaving cream, disposable razors, baby food and formula, diapers, bed linens, blankets and pillows, towels, basic toiletries, water, white T-Shirts and socks. Drop off donations at the Tomball Fire Department, 1200 Rudel in Tomball.
Donations also can be posted at http://www.helpourcounty.org. Click on the "Donate Goods" button and register. Then, click on "GiftMatch" and fill in the online form about your donation. If you have multiple household items, fill out one form per item. MCUW staff will monitor donations to connect them with the appropriate donation point.
Volunteers: Volunteers can look for opportunities to help at http://www.helpourcounty.org. Click on "Volunteer" and register. Then, click on "Opportunities" and search for "Fires 2011 Volunteers" or other fire-related opportunities. MCUW staff will connect volunteers with the appropriate opportnity as needs are requested.
Mother's Day Out for Magnolia residents: Wildwood United Methodist Church, 8911 FM 1488 in Magnolia, which is serving as the Red Cross evacuation center for those impacted by the fire, is offering its Mother's Day Out program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for local residents. Drop-ins are welcome.
Cost for children 18 months to 4 years is $10 per hour and $5 per each additional child. Call Pam Treesh at 832-934-0200 for information and reservations.
