Several bouts of MCS/derechos possible for north and northwest Texas heading into central and east Texas tonight/tomorrow. Good time to clear loose outdoor items and trim some branches. The rain this morning left lots of boundaries so isolated tornadoes in the squalls are possible even outside of the SPC's moderate risk area imo.

Here north of Dallas in Little Elm we've had a nice bit of rain since last night. Since 11pm I've had two different cells drop pea-sized hail and have also had the lights flicker 3x. I wonder what this evening will bring.

Jeeez, just can't get a break in Little Elm today. This pic is from a storm that passed through @ 3:20pm CDT. I also took a video of it and uploaded it to Youtube. This storm had no wind or lightning/thunder. Just some good old fashioned quarter-sized to maybe golfball-sized hail.

Some greenery is back after the recent waves of rain. A few more shower complexes could effect northeast and east Texas through Saturday. Beyond that we turn our heads toward the western Caribbean and southern gulf. Whether or not something forms in a week or so moisture plume could effect Texas. Stay tuned!

This northwest flow just seems so.... so right. Why can't we have more nice things like this?
Bonus, gravity waves from last night:

Texarkana finished the month with .70 inches of rain. That's about 4 inches below normal. If the pattern doesn't change soon, we will be back in drought conditions by the middle of June.

We got a few sprinkles where I was in Austin today. The outflow boundary ahead of the rain stabilized the atmosphere ahead of the action, completely zapping the energy source. I and a few colleagues of mine were in disbelief.

I was anticipating a nice relief. It was 97 when I left work. Hmmm. Back to the sprinklers, feeling the guilt of draining a a struggling Lake Travis.

Depressing day in these parts.

Hope June has something to offer.

Cheer up, Austin got an inch of rain over normal for May.

Was hoping for another spit in San Antonio. There was some heavy downpour 20 miles north of us but it never came into town so we'll just have to settle with 9.85" for May.

You're right, I'm thankful.
It just happened in the first couple weeks, then the pump shut off.
Spreading it out is ideal, but I know , beggars can't be choosers.

It is interesting to note that the NAO is extremely negative coupled with a -AO. Latest models suggest the first half of June will seasonably hot with intervals of less hot (yes this is natural summer terminology in texas!). There are no sustained heat ridges in the foreseeable future. In fact some blocking may even occur in central Canada which will have effects here. Rain chances may come back up again in a week.

Just send it back up in about 3 weeks!

Perhaps some of us in Texas will see more rain this coming week. JB has been tweeting today about a back-door cool front into Texas and "wetting rains" anywhere east of a line from Lubbock to Victoria. NWS forecast discussions from Texas offices today also reference a deepening Eastern US trough (i.e. backdoor cool front for Texas) and some short-wave ripples coming across the state. We shall see.

That would be great! I just mowed and trimmed my yard today.

The 0Z HPC's 5 day QPF output looks encouraging for the parts of the state that need rain. On a side note, 31 stations in Arkansas reported all-time record rainfall deficits for the month of May. Clinton, which is just outside of Little Rock, received only .04 inches of rain for the month.

Yes sir, that appears to be the case and it would be welcomed, of course!
FWIW, I saw this tweet from this morning from JB:
Heavy Rains next 10 days for Texas from panhandle to coastal bend , east, assures them of much less hot summer this yr

Lots of blocking going on our side of the world in the higher latitudes. And given that it's June rich moisture is not very far off in the southern gulf. +PNA, -AO, and very -NAO spells a wet Texas.
