Minnesota roll cloud?

Saw what appeared to be a roll cloud this morning. Having never really seen one and the fact it was somewhat behind a hill made it kinda difficult to see the whole thing.
Took a pic but only had my phone. Wish I had a better camera.

Looks like it could be. Hill is definitely a problem. It does look similar to one I saw posted on FB recently. What were the weather conditions?

A strong cold front had moved though the night before. Otherwise it was cold, clear, and pretty calm wind.

It almost looks like smoke on the horizon, but it's not. It's a shame that the hill is in the way, but it's still and awesome picture.

I am by no means an authority on this. But I think ususally roll clouds are caused by windy conditions. Could it have been a fog bank? Was there a body of water over the hill?

Nope. It was off the ground. It was also moving at a pretty quick pace too. 30 minutes later it had moved out of eye range.

You may be right then. Like I said, I am no afficiondo about that phenomenon.
