This is from the NWS New Orleans discussion:
THE FIRST TRUE COLD FRONT OF THE
SEASON LOOKS TO MOVE THROUGH THE CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION LATE
THURSDAY AND INTO FRIDAY ESTABLISHING WHAT COULD BE SOME PLEASANT
AND MILD WEATHER FOR NEXT WEEKEND. ALL OF THIS THOUGH WILL BE
DEPENDENT ON ANY POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN OVER
THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS INDICATED BY THE 12Z ETA AND GFS MODELS. THUS
FAR...THESE TWO SOLUTIONS HAVE ANY POTENTIAL WAVE SHEARING TOWARD
THE WEST FLORIDA COAST AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING FRONTAL BOUNDARY
ALTHOUGH ALL OF THIS OF COURSE IS VERY SPECULATIVE AND WILL BE
WATCHED ACCORDINGLY.
Doesn't look to get real cool but we could have lows in the mid 60's and highs in the mid 80's which would be nice compared to the muggy tropical weather. Fall has to start somewhere!

I personally am looking forward to fall and getting a break from the summer heat and humidity here. Looks like the fall patterns are starting to take shape a little early this year.

I think we've all had enough of summer, when it's September and still in the 90's it gets pretty old!

Yes indeed, it's time for slacks, light sweaters etc in the evening, not shorts, tank tops, flip flops and GALLONS of iced tea this late!
I've seen sooooo many signs of an early autumn, better be careful what I wish for.......I've seen it snow as early as 21 Oct.....could this be the year AGAIN?? I'm just ready for some cooler temps and all the tourists to GO HOME! Yes......we need their support to survive the winter but the time has come for them to depart-tay!

I'm tired of the tropical weather - bring on the first coldfront for SE Texas. They are forecasting high's in the 80's this weekend and lows in the 70's and 60's - woohoo. This will definitely be an early coldfront this far south for Texas. Usually we don't get them until middle September - until after the 14th.
Everyone had a great week!

My area is probably about a month or so away from the first frost (usually happens in the first 10 days of October). And I am definitely looking forward to frosty mornings!

Getting highs in the upper 70s to near 80 and lows in the mid 60s still which is typical summer wx for us.

It seems that almost every year we get a front in last week of September or so that brings us down into the 50's and it feels cold! I sure hope this happens this year, there's nothing like walking outside and breathing in all that fresh and cool air.

*sigh* pawlee, pawlee tsk, tsk! "LOL!" No joke.....a local radio DJ just last week was talking about eating *Blue Berry Eggo Waffles*.....only ONE little problem, they weren't blue berries as he first thought, it was "AHEM........*mold*!" YUCK.....said it made him rather *ill* Speaking of...have you ever gone to the freezer and played *What Was It?*
NOW....back to the weather "LOL!" Seems the first frost is right on track, we have a pretty decent cold front, from everything I've read and listened to, decending upon us tomorrow morning and lasting well into next week, what little monsoon moisture there is left will be scrubbed out, with the lower dewpoints and RH......."Look out Martha, better bring in the Brass Monkey off the front porch!"

You know it PtrackerLA....we need a good snowpack this year BIG TIME..my average snowfall per year is 130".....we came very close to that last year. We had a decent monsoon up here in the mountains while the southern part of the state had a record breaking LACK of moisture.
It appears the *cold snap* is on hold till the weekend now, the monsoon is giving it one more shot at some forecast big storms this weekend....it always does, one last HUGE push of moisture just before the season ends. Sounds like tomorrow thru Saturday our chances of severe boomers has increased then by Sunday.......that's all she wrote....then by Monday evening into Weds, a series of troughs are slatted to enter into the northern part of the state bringing with it, a cooling trend and LOTS of wind!
