Preliminary data suggests it was an EF2 Tornado that moved thru SW Cape Coral on January 9 in the early night hours.

NWS STORM SURVEY CREW FOUND DAMAGE TO MULTIPLE HOMES AND
STRUCTURES ALONG THE PATH. ONE HOME ON SIESTA KEY HAD THE
SECOND FLOOR COLLAPSE. THAT CAUSED THE TWO INJURIES. THE
WIDTH OF THE TORNADO BEGAN AT 350 YARDS WHEN IT MOVED ONSHORE
AT THE BEACH AND NARROWED TO AROUND 100 YARDS AS IT MOVED
ACROSS THE INTERCOASTAL WATERWAY.

EF SCALE: THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO
THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH

I'm going to disagree with the tornado rating and say it should have been EF3 based upon the damage.

That damage looks like cat 3 hurricane damage, which produces gusts in the EF3 range. The EF scale, I believe, is based off of gusts, not sustained winds.

That damage looks consistent with a mid range category 3 hurricnae, which would be the equivalent of an EF3 not an EF2 tornado.

Tornado count in Florida are at 13 so far in 2016.

Per @weatherchannel Since Jan 1st - 13 Confirmed tornadoes in Florida.

The May 9 Tornado was upgraded to EF-4.

NEW! The May 9th Katie tornado (W of I-35) is being upgraded to EF4 based on more intensive review of survey data. Updated PNS and map soon.

Impressive stat from Tony Lyza (UAH) on Twitter. This was the first day with two EF3+ tornadoes in Oklahoma since 24 May 2011.
