Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX
223 PM CDT Fri Aug 30 2019

.SHORT TERM (Tonight through Saturday Night)...
Isolated showers along the Coastal Plains this afternoon, with hot
and dry conditions for the rest of the area as we stay under the
influence of an upper ridge. An ongoing MCS to our north, currently
making its way across Dallas/Fort Worth, will push south.
Though not
expected to move into our area, any residual boundaries may affect
the area tomorrow. Maintaining low POPs due to the uncertainty and
low confidence in development.

&&

.LONG TERM (Sunday through Friday)...
Going with persistence through the long term, with hot and dry
conditions as this ridge continues to dominate.
Isolated afternoon
showers for counties along the Coastal Plains on Tuesday. Models
continue to show development of a weak low of the coast of Mexico
Tuesday and Wednesday. This feature could bring some rain chances to
the area Wednesday and Thursday
. Residual moisture and diurnal
heating on Friday, provide some isolated convection for the southern
portion of our CWA.

Those storms weakened quite a bit as they approached DFW. Better than nothing and a nice break from the heat.

Crazy wind with that gust front, had 45-50 gust, enough that I few limbs did come down from a couple of my trees. Rain wasn't super heavy but it was enough to provide the lawn with a good soak. I would say it was between. 25" and .50" after it was over.

Definitely provided a nice Fall preview with the cooler air and rain.

Some rain in the eastern counties (Collin, Rockwall, Dallas) from the complex spinning around in northeast TX this morning. That will keep highs down.

Pouring here again, it has been a very stormy morning! After the rain yesterday DFW is now above normal for August but some of the eastern areas of DFW are way above normal now.

I hope you guys get something out of this. I’m not feeling optimistic about it after what the GFS and Euro are showing.

I’m feeling badly for our friend hriverajr.

This from NWS San Antonio on Twitter:
“For the first time in recorded history (going back to 1906), the high temperature reached or exceeded 100 degrees every day in August at Del Rio. This is also currently the 2nd longest streak of 100+ days at Del Rio (35 consecutive days).”
