Today was quite the busy day. Though there were some lulls it was certainly worthy of the outbreak title. Unfortunately their have been losses of life because of this and many folks have lost their homes. It's why following extreme weather is a double edged sword and in a perfect world these storms would only occur in an open plain where we could study them without risk for loss of life or property. Unfortunately that's not the case and we have to stay diligent in remembering that these storms do affect people and not let our passion get out of control. We're approaching a long stretch of months where there could be significant impacts in not only the U.S but our southern neighbors in Mexico and the Caribbean as well as we enter hurricane season. So while we pursue our interest to learn about the weather, let's remember the main reason we want to acquire more knowledge in this field, which is to protect life and property.

(Btw I'm just saying what's off the top of my head right now, this isn't a message in regards to poor behavior.)

My prayers to all affected by the devastating tornado outbreak across the Southeast U.S., especially across Mississippi, where the current death toll there is at 11 people.

Currently tornado watches and severe thunderstorms are impacting areas from North Florida northeastward up through the Carolinas and later into Virginia this afternoon.

The six confirmed EF3+ tornadoes in SC make this outbreak the most severe on record there, tying 28 March 1984, which also featured six F3+ tornadoes.
