Texas Fall 2021

#1 Postby Texas Snowman » Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:33 am

Yup, it’s August 1st on the calendar and meterological fall is now only a month away. :D

So let’s go ahead and officially open up this “Texas Fall 2021” thread for discussion.

Hopefully, there is some cooler weather, some strong frontal passages, and more good rainfall to look forward too!

Here’s to a cool and beautiful autumn season all across Texas!!!!!

—————
EDIT: Our longtime S2K contributor and friend Tireman 4 also started a Texas Fall 2021 thread, so I’m combining the two and adding his comment in here.

Hi. Also no Tropical threats for the Texas coast.

I am for that as well, but the pattern so far this summer has been more conducive for allowing tropical threats. There is no massive ridge to block storms from coming this way.

I'll be glad when hurricane season is over for us and we get a good cold front.

One of these days southeast Texas will experience another major. They can’t all keep going to LA. For now we’re lucky. No telling what the next one will do. After the third week in September we should be safe but there’s a long ways to go till then.

Yep we have about another 4 weeks to go until Texas' hurricane season is most likely over.

What I am still surprised about is that the Miami area has not been hit yet. They are really having a long break. As for our area, I am just glad it's been raining.

NWS Brownsville morning discussion....Word of the day "Irony" Forecast to be a toasty first couple of days of September. My personal weather station recorded 100+ for 26 out of 31 days of August :sun: :sun: :sun:

Code: Select all

HORT TERM Now through Thursday):The word of the day is irony
on this first day of Meteorological Fall. Midlevel ridging continues
to build into the region today, ushering in subsidence that favors
mostly clear skies and temperatures above seasonal average. Will
issue a Special Weather Statement for elevated heat indices today
given the above average high temperatures and relatively high dew
points anticipated. Peak heat indices approaching or even possibly
exceeding 110 degrees are expected in Starr and Zapata Counties as
well as here in Brownsville, and trends will need to be monitored
for a potential upgrade to a Heat Advisory. Similar heat can be
expected for Thursday afternoon as well. So while it may be
Meteorological Fall, the Deep South Texas extended summer heat
persists across our region for the foreseeable future.

:uarrow: That is similar to the Extreme cold & snow in February 2021 in terms of the setup, I hope it does not become consistent & preview another nasty winter . . .

So the first day of June I had to wear a coat. And now the first day of September it's supposed to hit 100.
