250mph Velocity Returns In Quad State Tornado

Last night's deadly tornado in Kentucky and Illinois registered 250mph F-5 wind readings...

If you’re talking gate to gate shear there are frames with up to 300mph. However it might be a bit generous to use the word “registered” as it implies some level of officiality that doesn’t really exist with those types of readings. There can be pretty substantial discrepancies between those readings and ground truth. We’ll have to see what the damage surveys reveal in the coming days to weeks, but this is in my opinion the best ef5 contender since 2013, even moreso than the Bassfield, MS monster last year.

I wonder if it was one continuous twister or two. Because it is possible that the tornado lifted right before crossing into kentucky
