0.36" IMBY - North Dallas. Only rained for about 20 minutes but it came down pretty hard at times and a decent amount of wind. Happy to get the bonus rain.

I got a trace yesterday, but it's not included in the rainfall totals.

Front made it through early this morning. Nice! We definitely need rainwater, because we have pretty much reversed all of the water gains we made in August.

But, at least it feels better!

Latest GFS shows some rain returning finally around 300 hours....will see...appears to show a pattern change. Hope it's not a mirage. Euro does show some hope but ends before the time period.

Another big +SOI spike +32.21. It has now been well over month without a negative reading. Second such stretch the other back in April and May just before the onset of heat/drought.

Probably not as extreme as summer but a Fall version. October is the 2nd wettest month of the year for most if not 3rd. Bad timing. I think CPV in an earlier post is right, these long duration dry spells will win out until Spring of next year.

With the natural state providing more variability as we approach winter, I think even with SOI etc. we will at least have more shots of precip and cooler temps. It won't be the same thing in a different season as summer, surely. At least after October. But, I think it's likely we won't have a sustained rainy pattern again until late spring.

Lost in translation, we have repeated the same pattern that generated the unusual warmth last December, so in itself was not a blip but a signal. That stout Aleutian ridge has come back again and again with staying power thanks to the tropics. It's going to drive the upcoming October warm anomalies.

This could make winter even worse to counter this, but only time will tell if that is the case.
