It's 56* here right now and people to my west and northwest are getting snow! Our low is only supposed to be in the upper 30's but boy is that snow getting close and in the afternoon no doubt!

If I had gone to visit my grandmother in Brownwood when I wanted to go, I would be getting snow right now. <<wah wah>>
But I've been too sick to go....isn't that the pits?

That snow is dipping pretty far south!!!! Actually, a little more south than Beaumont is but off to the west.

TO the north of Houston - only two counties to the north - about 50 miles. Its 60 degrees here - so the front is between us and the snow and the cold weather. I AM GONNA CRY. I want just to see snow - why can't it happen to us....

If only the arctic air would push about 150-200 miles further south we would all be having a chance at winter precip. Is anyone gonna drive north tonight? lol

Hey, I just heard that you folks were getting some thundersnow around
there. (I see that the possibility was mentioned in another thread!) Looks
like the snow is coming my way, too - local mets are calling for 2-4" in
my area by 6am CST! That will make for a less-than-boring drive to work,
by 7:30am! :o

No light show here yet!!! But I'm about to go outside and look like my Avatar to try to bring it on!!! :grab: The snow will have to swing past us at a minimum and in fact there are winter weather advisories to about 60 miles N of Houston!! I'm gonna check things out and get back with my thoughts. I was looking at a model last night that showed sleet for Houston tonight and tomorrow and I totally discounted it because of othe things I saw. Now I have to look again!!!

Well if there are winter weather advisories 60 miles north of houston, i don't see why a rain/sleet mix would not be possible around houston. I never realized that it would get that cold in texas since the lowest temp forecasted here is 45 degrees

As promised I have been checking several models and realtime observations out. What I see is another TEASER for Houston and a real chance for a mixed bag of sleet, freezing rain, or ice pellets, with maybe a few flakes thrown in on and north of a line that will run from SA to College Station, to Lufkin and ENE to NE from there.

Some models are showing frozen precip all the way to the coast of TX, but with the upper air mass as warm as it is over the Southern 1/3 of TX I don't see that happening. However, areas of N and NE TX may have a SIGNIFICANT snow event tonight and tomorrow if the models verify, which they usually do this close in. I'm talking up to 6"-7.5" of snow in NE TX and less elsewhere(basically the further west you go). Upper air temps do support snows across the N part of TX on a Lubbock to San Angelo to Waco to Longview line. Below that line what is currently falling is more than likely a mix of freezing rain, sleet and ice pellets.

For SE TX even though the frozem precip. could possibly approach the Houston area to as close as 75 mi or so I do not see any frozen precip for the SE TX area as a whole. With lows in the mid 30's in the morning the possibility of frozen precip. for our area will depend on the amount of moisture available more than anything. The disturbance that is causing the current precip over TX is moving NE at relatively fast clip and taking everything with it.

Oh well, maybe next year!!

Talking to my cousin who lives in Dallas...he said it isn't snowing there, but the roads are iced over.

Snow and Ice in that area all night and tomorrow! Current reports indicate icy conditions with light snow in Arlington.

Hey breeze...that light show never reached here. I'm in extreme Southeast Texas. Near the coast...near the Louisiana border. Everything has been to my north, northwest or west.

Snow is southeast of Austin right now and a mix goes nearly down to Corpus Christi!!!!!! This is so cruel.

Now I must scream!!

I'm up late trying to get some stuff done for work and alice, tx is currently reporting 33 degrees w/ light snow. Now if that isn't cruel I don't know what is because alice is really far south! It's 49 degrees here!
