It's cold, but no snow

OK, it 6:30 AM EST in Raleigh, NC and it is much colder outside this morning than it was at the same time yesterday. Local forecast is still leaning toward some rain mixed with freezing rain later this afternoon and into this evening, then turning to rain.
My question is this...where is the warmth coming from to give us a rain event tonight and tomorrow instead of frozen precip? What am I missing here? The high for tomorrow is 35 F, which is a bit lower than what we had with last week's storm.
I'm not -removed- for snow or ice...just don't want a nasty surprise!

Suncat,
We are going to get stiffed again with the snow. We might see some freezing rain, but no snow, no sleet, just cold rain that might or might not freeze on the ground... But that is ok with me.

Nothing for me either, here in my part of Iowa, we have missed all but one of this winter's storms! I'm not a snow fan though, so let it be MAY!!! hehe, be careful on the roads guys! Does it snow a lot usually in the winter's down there? I lived in Goldsboro for 7 years when I was young and I only remember seeing snow once! Just curious....I'd like to go back down there sometime, haven't been back since my family moved!
