May 3rd, 1999 was the last time the United States saw an F5 tornado and that was in Moore, OK. There were some close calls in places such as La Plata, MD in April, 2002, Van Wart, OH in November, 2002, and in Franklin, KS in May, 2003. But those tornadoes were rated an F4 on the fujita scale.

That tornado in Mississippi was quite strong. F2s can definitely uproot trees, tear roofs off buildings, and possibly damage walls. Mobile homes would be leveled in an F2 tornado.

We certainly need to watch severe wx season '04.

I hope 2004's severe wx season is quieter. I think SW Missouri and Kansas has seen its fair share for a few (many) years. :o

From early in the am until later in the day, Simpson county was hammered with one tornado warning after another. I know that there were 3 seperate times they were under warnings. Fortunately for us in Covington county, the worst we had was a severe thunderstorm warning late in the evening. It never got bad at my house, but just north of me near Collins, it got pretty nasty.
If this is a preview of spring, we could be in for a big mess!

We had a F2 tornado about 2 weeks ago pretty close to home. There was never a warning issued for is or anything which is scary. We're definately in a stormy pattern right now and if this continues into spring we will have lots of severe weather in the south.
