August 28, 2002 started out as a warm and really humid day. As the day progressed, storms began to form about 30 miles Southwest of Lincoln.

I had to attend a meeting of my bowling league (start of season). Shortly after getting to the bowling alley, the rain began. 30 minutes after that, hEAVY rain, strong lightning and hail hit. The wind was blowing about 45 mph.

The roof began to leak in the bowling alley, so we decided to call it quits for the night. I decided to head over to the local Best Buy store to see if I could spend some money.

When I left the store, most of the streets in North Lincoln were flooded, and there we cars floating out of the parking lot of the surrounding stores.

I got in my 4x4 and headed out to see what else I could find. As I drove home, many trees had fallen, and there was a great amount of hail damage to vehicles and homes.

The interesting part about this storm, was that was never a severe thunderstorm warning issued. The forecast just said, moderate rain.

I really am glad that the rain was only moderate!! LOL

lol Aint nothing like a leaky bowling alley! I remeber bowling on a league one night in the summer and they had the doors open....all of a sudden the floors condensated and everyone was falling on their faces. They found out it was the A/C under the floors and the humidity outside was the culprit!

AH, yes. I remember those days behind the bowling machines with all the leaky roof problems during heavy rains. Also, before the problem was finally fixed up, we also had water that would come into the back end as well ... not fun, cleaning up water on the floor, AND dealing with equipment problems at the same time.

Also the busted out ceiling tiles due to heavy rains, and/or leaky A/C units.

Man, I sure miss those days....NOT!
