New Theory

At the discussion last night I was talking about in a couple of the other threads, Ron Hearst mentioned that there has been research done to disprove that the rope tornado is always a tornado in the dying phase. He said that research done at the U of Oklahoma has proven that while all you may see is the "rope" looking tornado... it may still be 1/4 to 1/2 mile wide... just that you can't see the full tornado.

I thought that was neat. We're learning more about svr weather all the time.

It just goes to prove that you have to take EVERY tornado (and funnel cloud for that matter) very very seriously

Never exactly know what's going on there until it's too late :(

AND also just because one tornado is "roping out" that it doesn't mean that the parent supercell won't spawn another one ... sometimes, a new tornado develops with the other one "roping" out, and the new tornado becomes the primary.
