0z guidance continues to show a historical snow event for the Denver Metro area, spreading NE into SD...
I have not disected the soundings per my norm on EC events, but the R/S line is lowering..last i checked flirtign with the 5500 range. Metro Denver should snow by 1-2 am Central Time.
EC...Wow, ..first preface. PDS showed 3-5 inches of QPF in NC into Souther VA and it never panned out. Tons of PW, just no VV's, thanks to the lousy 700mb low!
Having said that, significant rains DO seem likely over much of NC...and into VA. Nice flow from the GOM and this system is gonna take its time.
Spring floods anyone?

I definitely agree Huff.
From what I'm surmising from the model runs, the deep layer moisture returns occur from approximately Alabama, and into the Carolinas, and Virginia...
Last night's 18z run, the GFS painted up to 7" of QPF in Eastern NC, with widespread 4" throughout the Carolinas, and into SE Virginia, with a general 2" in VA.
Again, the potential for training thunderstorm cells look quite likely as the wind profiles begin to align at nearly all levels from SW to NE. Reducing the threat for tornadoes, but providing the corridor for prolonged waves of thunderstorms.

There was actually a Tornado Warning for the county approximately 70 miles notheast of Denver, Colorado... yesterday afternoon (Monday afternoon), a day before this potential snowstorm for a foot or so of snow for the Denver metropolitan area.
Don't you just love March.

Impressive event winding down in the MTS of CO and WY...
Snowfall low side is around 2 feet in the lowest elevations that recieved snow. As elevation increases, so does snow totals....Last top report I read was 54 inches! Morning AFD from DEN showed raitio were 8-1..so this was a HEAVY WET SNOW...with incredible winds. Blizzard warning was issued in many areas. Spectacular late season event!
EC rains...Game is still on! Mods are trending north. (Hence, not just a winter feature) With a nice jet configuration and embedded jetstreaks. Threat of severe storms still exists, but less pronounced once north of 1-40 in NC..
