Here is a map of the outbreak from SvrPlot

17 F4s! Two tornadoes in southern Michigan have nearly identical tracks and several in northern Indiana had nearly intersecting tracks.

I remember that one. Started the day before in MO where I was living at the time. Tornadoes in MO were relatively small but I saw some bodacious hail in the afternoon. One big batch of thunderstorms (which dropped a tornado just south of Warrensburg) formed in eastern KS around 10pm and came through us around midnight. I remember going out after the storms had passed and watching the lightning centers race off to the NE at about 50-60 kt.

That was a bad one - day was hot & humid. The storms that rolled in were continuous lightning, thunder and hail. We had sparks flying out of the electrical outlets. As your map shows, lots of tornadoes that day/night. It was one of the worst I've been in.
