Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 1:37 PM EDT on April 12, 2004
...Slight Risk Of Severe Weather Tonight And Tomorrow...
A front will move North across central North Carolina overnight... which will bring a warm unstable airmass into the area. At the same time... strong winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere will approach from the southwest. The combination of these features will result in showers and thunderstorms developing overnight and continuing into tomorrow.
Some of the thunderstorms may be capable of producing severe weather. The main threat appears to be damaging straight-line winds. Isolated tornadoes will also be possible.
At this time... the best chance of severe weather appears to be from around sunrise tomorrow through the early afternoon hours.
Emergency management officials and local storm spotter groups should closely monitor the latest forecasts and statements from the National Weather Service.
