About the Spotter Outlook

The Spotter outlook will be issued twice daily with the Hazardous Weather Outlook (HWO), around 6 am and at 1 pm. Updates will be issued as needed. The valid time for the Spotter outlook is within 6 hours of the creation time The intent of this product is to provide spotters and emergency managers with a graphical depiction of the potential of spotter activation in our area. An area shaded in yellow means that spotter activation is possible within 6 hours from the product issuance. Red indicates that spotter activation is likely within 3 hours.

Along with the graphical spotter display, text describing the specific hazardous weather threat will be displayed. In addition, graphics depicting specific hazardous weather threats can also be viewed under the Hazardous Weather Outlook section. The color key on the right side of each outlook describes the color coding to be used in conveying a particular hazardous weather threat.
