Thunderstorms in the Mid-Atlantic yesterday

We had a shot at some severe storms yesterday here in Virginia and North Carolina... The cloud cover was limited most of the day and should have really helped in storm development... It did to some extent as the afternoon wore on, but nothing that I know about reached severe limits.. I met a friend and local chae partner Bill Coyle in Franklin, Va and after checking the radar decided to head south into North Carolina... After me missing the turn to head back east, I had to drive like crazy just to try and stay ahead of the storms... They started to gust out and I managed to catch up with Bill as we neared Elizabeth City, NC... We pulled over and there was this incrediable shelf cloud approaching from the southwest... Over open fields, it remined me of the time I spent out in the "Alley" a few years ago... Here is the link to see the photos and a brief write up on yesterdays events.. I will be working on the write up a bit more later today....
