I have no proof other than my word on this, it's been coming over the scanner ALL morning long......at least 7 semi's (18 wheelers) have been reported blown over on I-40 between Flagstaff and Winslow Az. this afternoon Reports coming over the scanner from Az. Dept of Public Saftey has estimated wind gusts in EXCESS of 70 MPH on that particular stretch of I-40. I-40 was closed for a 2 hour period while crews cleaned up the wreckage and due to the deadly winds.

Damage reports also coming in from Show Low, billboards being blown down, spotty power outages also being reported, shingles being blown off houses......I've had 2 peak gusts over 61 MPH here at the house with SNOW FLURRIES????

As soon as print material is posted, I will post it to back these stories up......but you can take my word, "It's FRIGGIN' WINDY!"

I saw a couple years ago some town in SOuth Dakota had 60 mph winds with DRIZZLE??? Yes, DRIZZLE!!!

I've seen 105 MPH winds and clear skies... :o

around here have reported gusts in the 50mph range-however, there is damage down here as well including shingles off of roofs, other roof damage, and siding ripped off of mobile homes (that's what I have seen and reported to NWS). That type of damage is consistent with gusts in the low 60mph range which is what I called for in my forecast that I posted on my homepage two days ago. High resolution visual satellite imagery shows a big dust plume from the Willcox Playa and in the San Simon Valley so visibilities are very poor along I-10 in those areas. Trees are reported down in downtown Tucson and the UofA recorded a peak gust of 27 m/s (roughly 54kt or 65mph).

Yuppers......SNOW and wind, what a combo huh? Reminds me of Adak, Alaska, in the 11 months I was stationed there, I never ONCE saw vertical snow, it was straight line, horizontal snow!
