.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TODAY
ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS AS A WEATHER DISTURBANCE MOVES ACROSS THE
AREA. DUE TO THE SLOW MOVEMENT OF THE STORMS...HEAVY RAINFALL
WILL OCCUR IN SOME AREAS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL AVERAGE 1/2 TO 1 INCH.
ISOLATED RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.

SOME LOCATIONS IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS HAVE RECEIVED 3 TO 7 INCHES OF RAIN
IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. RESIDENTS OF COLORADO...JACKSON...
MATAGORDA AND WHARTON COUNTIES WILL HAVE TO ESPECIALLY MONITOR THE
STORMS TODAY. THESE ADDITIONAL RAINS COULD CAUSE SOME MINOR FLOODING
OF STREETS AND LOW-LYING AREAS. MOTORISTS SHOULD USE CAUTION WHILE
TRAVELING TODAY.

IN ADDITION...THERE IS A THREAT FOR FUNNEL CLOUDS OR ISOLATED
TORNADOES TODAY...MAINLY SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 10. THIS IS COMMON IN A
TROPICAL AIRMASS...AND SOMETIMES THE FUNNEL CLOUDS CAN TOUCH GROUND
WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.

THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY SHOULD DIMINISH SHORTLY AFTER SUNSET
TONIGHT.

Yeah, I should be studying but can't keep my nose out of the radar. Ken ATTEMPTED to mow this morning until the lightning got a WEE BIT too close and I threw a fit.

Not hideous here, almost good nap weather!

Looks like we're gonna have a wet week!

Now have a Urban and small stream flood advisory and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect. Expecting rains to 3"-5" and it is definitely gotten "rumbly" here too.

I think the line of storms moving in from San Antonia will be the worst for down here. It will probably be tame on the coast until later this evening.

Stay safe Houston area members tornado warning until 415 pm!

Weather channel is reporting damage and power outages in Houston. Looks like there could be a tornado on the northern suburbs of Houston. Please check in Houston area members when you get a chance!

Son called wondering when the "hurricane force winds are going to quit"!!!(I'm sure that was overestimated to say the least, however??? ) Rain coming down so hard the gutters couldn't handle it and said the back door was blown open!!! It just so happens I was picking up a hook echo in that area when he called and we were seeing debris from trees in this area(not sure if it was related considering that is 5 miles from where I am). Then I read the newest Tornado warning here and see it is right over my house!!!

I just spoke with David and he is fine where he is, but will have to find out what's going on at home when he leaves. I had debris here, MARVELOUS wind and a husband who (once again) questioned my sanity for standing outside during all this.
David noticed a hook echo around his house, so let's keep our fingers crossed for him.
Humorous how our hazardous weather outlook stated spotter activation would not be required. I shoulda trusted my gut and headed west. Oh well, live and learn.

Glad to hear y'all are okay. I'm concerned about this line progressing making it over here tonight since we've been in the 80's all day with sunshine and no rain. I don't see any reason for this line to weaken until very late tonight. Galveston and Beaumont, you're next!

Definitely something to watch for. The one saving grace may be that the line hauls a$$ getting through. My rain gauge registered 2 1/4 inches in 30-45 minutes.

Weather advisory: Strong storms moving toward area, exercise care if driving
A weather alert for the region has been posted due to the imminent threat of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. Latest radar indicates a line of severe thunderstorms currently approaching the region and moving eastward at a quick 40 mph. Wind damage is possible as it passes through the area; winds in the 50-60 mph range have been reported with these storms, and there is the potential for isolated tornadoes and hail. This line will reach UTMB between 4 and 5 p.m.. Please exercise extreme caution on your afternoon commute.

I wonder just how relaxing a massage can be if you get it during a storm? (Supposed to get one this afternoon as one of a part of a package of spa treatments for the wedding team. I'll probably want to watch the rain instead.)

Bow echo blast through areas S of Houston in the last hour. Estimated winds 45-50MPH with sheets of swirling rain. Wind is difficult to estimate here at work.

If I see anything interesting on the way home I will post.
