The latest datasets for the Lower South Carolina region are showing astounding warmth for this time of year, with MAV guidance reaching 96º on WED-THU for the Charleston, SC region ... normal high this time of year is about 86º ... but with the favorable position of the stubborn HP and a westerly component and that same component baking further on dry ground already threatens to break the highest temperature in ALL OF 2003 for this area ... and it's still May ... basically speaking, WED-FRI look to bring the inland counties (away from the seabreeze and the coastline) into the mid-upper 90's...
Funny thing is that ALL of the rainfall @ CHS fell on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (1.42", 1.24", and .18" respectively then ... a couple of traces afterwards ... some inland areas have had heavy rains with isolated thunderstorms, but otherwise, BONE DRY since the 4th) ...
Unfortunately, today, RH and TD's are running much under guidance and TD's only around 64º (compared to the 74º yesterday and sparked some pretty intense, but very localized thunderstorms) which has greatly reduced the instability needed for afternoon convection ...
Meanwhile, the stubborn pattern continues for areas that have been continually pummeled by severe weather, and today, a serious and very dangerous situation is about to unfold in NE/IA ...
