After a busy and devastating weekend last week, it appears that Saturday will bring another chance of severe weather.

A Moderate Risk of severe thunderstorms encompasses extreme southeast South Dakota, western Iowa, Eastern Nebraska, extreme northwest Missouri and central and eastern Kansas for Saturday.

A cold front and dry line is forecast to move eastward across the central plains. With very warm and moist air being drawn northward into the plains, instability will increase.

All modes of severe weather are possible by late afternoon Saturday; large hail, damaging winds and even some tornadoes are possible. In addition, some storms will produce locally heavy rainfall.

Drats! My good friend is driving to Waco, NE from Houston to pick up her son and a classmate and bring them home. She called last night from Denton and said she hit a storm in Dallas that was frightening...and she's never bothered by rain. She got to OK city last night and will go on today to Waco. Saturday she will drive back...I guess if she leaves early in the a.m. she should be ok...*sigh*
