Man!! What a night this has been! The storms rocked my area about 9:00PM last night when I was about to get ready for bed. The winds were blowing very hard. I tried to get a couple to get out of the hot tub before the storm really gets bad, but they didn't listen, hopefully they made it out alright. By the time I got back in the apartment,a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING was issued for my area until 10:00PM. 10-15 minutes later,a FLASH FLOOD WARNING was issued for my area as well until 11:00PM. The storm in the DFW area was so bad, that it knocked out NOAA Weather Radio Station KEC 55 (162.550 MHz) in Ft. Worth. Even a few local stations were flickering on & off the air. The storm caused tons of power outages, thank goodness my family's not one of them, however the street lights nearby were knocked off temporarily. It also blew several trash cans at local gas stations around.

More to come when I have more details,now I just need to study for the Government Exam.

They sure looked like they meant business on radar.

Just read an article that said some 500,000 customers lost power last night from these storms, the worst outtage over there in a decade. The line blew through here around 4am with strong winds, heavy rain and lots of lightning but nothing severe.

Oh, one thing to add, no hail was reported.

Hey Stooge. I'm also in Dallas and I got some hail. It was not large, but was pelting my windows. That's was one heck of a storm.
Finally got power back by noon. Hopefully, there will not be a repeat of this tonight. I have never seen so much lightning. 8,000 lightning strikes reported in the metroplex!

STAFF FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN FORT WORTH
SURVEYED THE DAMAGE FROM STORMS TUESDAY NIGHT IN THE RICHLAND
HILLS AND BURLESON AREAS. THE RESULTS OF THESE SURVEYS ARE BELOW:

IN RICHLAND HILLS...DAMAGE PATTERNS SUGGESTED A BROAD...SHORT-LIVED
CIRCULATION BRIEFLY MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE TORNADO
WAS LOCATED BETWEEN BAKER BOULEVARD AND HIGHWAY 121 AND BETWEEN
INTERSTATE 820 AND RUFE SNOW DRIVE. THE TORNADO WILL LIKELY BE RATED
F0 ON THE FUJITA SCALE. WINDS FROM THIS CIRCULATION WERE ESTIMATED
AROUND 60 MPH. PATH LENGTH WAS AROUND 1/2 MILE AND PATH WIDTH
APPROXIMATLEY 200 YARDS. SEVERAL TREES WERE UPROOTED...LARGE TREE
LIMBS WERE SNAPPED...AND FENCE SECTIONS WERE BLOWN DOWN. THE
POSSIBILITY OF THIS CIRCULATION REACHING THE GROUND FARTHER WEST
CANNOT BE RULED OUT...HOWEVER...THE RICHLAND HILLS LOCATION IS THE
ONLY CONFIRMED LOCATION AT THIS TIME.

IN BURLESON...A SMALL BUT INTENSE DOWNBURST REACHED THE GROUND 1/4
MILE WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF NEWTON DRIVE AND HIGHWAY 174. THE
DOWNBURST RAPIDLY MOVED SOUTH AND DAMAGED AN APARTMENT BUILDING OFF
OF THOMAS STREET. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS TO A CHURCH AND A
SHOPPING COMPLEX JUST WEST OF HIGHWAY 174. THE CHURCH STEEPLE WAS
BLOWN OFF AND THE ROOF AIR CONDITIONER UNIT WAS DAAMGED. THE
SHOPPING CENTER ROOFS WERE PARTIALLY PEELED BACK AND LARGE GRAVEL
PIECES FROM THE ROOFS WERE BLOWN THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. ON THE
SOUTHEAST SIDE OF 174...DAMAGE TO SIGNS WAS NOTED DOWNWIND OF THE
SHOPPING COMPLEX. WINDS FROM THIS DOWNBURST WERE ESTIMATED TO BE AT
LEAST 70 MPH.

ON TUESDAY EVENING...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RECEIVED TWO
REPORTS OF A TORNADO NEAR INTERSTATE 20 AND HIGHWAY 287 IN SOUTHWEST
ARLINGTON. NO DAMAGE WAS REPORTED FROM THIS APPARENT TORNADO.
THUS...ANY GROUND SURVEY IN THIS AREA WOULD BE INCONCLUSIVE.

THESE EVENTS WERE PART OF ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGING
WINDSTORMS TO STRIKE NORTH TEXAS IN RECENT YEARS. WIDESPREAD DAMAGE
TO TREES...ROOFS...AND POWER POLES WAS REPORTED FROM JACK AND YOUNG
COUNTIES IN THE NORTHWEST...TO ANDERSON...LEON...AND ROBERTSON
COUNTIES IN THE SOUTHEAST. LOCALIZED AREAS OF MORE SIGNIFICANT WIND
DAMAGE WERE REPORTED THROUGHOUT THIS BROAD DAMAGE SWATH.

Looks like the metroplex is going to get hit again tonight. Stay safe, everyone!

That thing was mean on radar last night. I couldn't believe my eyes at first. It looks like a repeat is coming. A MASSIVE bow echo hit OKC and Tulsa this afternoon. Very significant damage in Tulsa, including windows being blown out of buildings, and damage to the airport!

There was also a long-lived gustnado south of Tulsa!

Looking at some web pages like USWX (http://www.uswx.com), the Red River border between OK and TX is just lit up with Severe T-Storm warnings. I don't think there is a single county on either line in the main bow area that ISN'T under some sort of warning. That's just way too intense.

here is the radar loop for that area. Wichita Falls is getting super pounded with tops in the 70+dbz range!!

That line may be strong enough to make it in here later tonight.

Texas Stooge hang on for the second round!!!! I t looks like it could be worse than the first one!!!

I've already text-messaged my daughter who's in summer school at North Lake to get her a$$ home. She got slammed last night and looks like she's gonna get it again. Can I just tell you how frightening it is to be on the phone with your child during a way-too-close-for-comfort lightning strike? She screamed and dropped the phone....thought I was gonna crawl out of my skin.

Part II of the storms in Dallas was not as bad, but power was knocked off again until this morning!

They were decent storms last night, but thankfully nothing like the hellacious storm the night before. I hope these are done for the metroplex for a while. Still 300,000 with no power in the metroplex so I should probably consider myself lucky today

Well, last night wasn't as bad as Tuesday night's, but dangerous enough to cause flash flooding.

Looks like my area is in for more rain Today & Friday.
