Rain (heavy at times), and heavier thunderstorms have finally returned to Lower SC. Today, a strong thunderstorm impacted the area around 2:30 pm this afternoon, and dumped .40" of rain in a brief 20 minute period, accompanied by 35 mph wind gusts.

Just further south in Charleston County, showers/thunderstorms became nearly stationary and trained over the same locations, resulting in doppler radar estimates of up to 5" in some locations in Western Charleston County ... for some, the storms today was the first measurable rainfall since MAY 3RD (32 days) ...

More thunderstorms today developing along boundaries coupled with the seabreeze ... unfortunately for my location, just a sprinkle, but some locations are receiving very heavy rainfall with strong convection as the seabreeze boundary has fired up ... PWATS are running relatively dry (only around 1.25" or so, but some of the more significant convection is still producing very heavy rainfalls, but highly localized ...). The moisture, though, at all levels is fairly moist, so dry microbursts are not likely, although, gusty winds up to 30 - 40 mph are likely with those storms...
