Creating a new post for you guys in the Louisiana area.
It looks as if a lot of this stuff that's moving your way is about to get heavier. My amateur opinion is that this slow moving system and the upper atmospheric conditions that are causing it have obviously moved eastward and might just be out of SE TX's hair soon and you guys (along with MS eventually) will have to contend with it for a few more days.
Then again, I could be wrong. Still draining out my skull cavity this morning, so the flooded crevices of my brain could be clouding my ability to figure this all out. That...and I'm not a met.
Be careful anyway if you're in LA or MS.

Duckie, it's quite soggy over here and no relief in sight!
Had to leave work early yesterday....the coulee (bayou, drainage ditch) which is about a football field away from my house was up to my backyard fence line and my street was flooded and I'm not in a flood zone.
Worried about what's going to happen today
I've been flooded once before and don't want to go through that again (even though I have flood insurance now)

Duckie, sorry to disappoint you, but this pattern is expected to continue like it is for at least the next week!!! We may have our years worth of rain by the end of the month at the rate we are going now!!! The trough that has been causing this, set up the boundary for impulses coming in from the West to move along, now extends into LA. Thus they will be sharing in more of our wealth of rain.

The rain is moderate to heavy at times and locations around here are approaching 10" rainfall totals with this event according to storm total estimates.

The Vermilion river is approaching 13 ft. now which is 3 feet above flood stage. Around 15.5 ft. homes start to flood and the rain continues to come down with no end in sight and high rain chances through the weekend. The flooding situation down here could really start to get ugly.

We are not having flooding in Houston like in those pics, at least not yet. But with everything I see out West and the rain coming at us from the NE(if it makes it here) we could be posting similar pictures as our bayous and creeks start coming out of their banks. Right now it looks like a rather bleak picture for most of Southern LA and SE TX and possibly South Central TX. Right now there is nothing pointing to a break in this continuing parade of systems from West to East across these areas for at least the next couple of days and with all of the creeks, bayous, and rivers near flood stage and the ground completely saturated we could be on the doorstep of a serious flooding situation for many areas. Most of these areas have had at least 10" of rain this month with the majority of it in the last few days in TX and as much as 20" in S LA in the last month with some areas up to 10" in the last few days. It just doesn't paint a pretty picture. I hope that piture gets cheerier quickly!!

I just looked at the radar, and I noticed the storms refiring out in central Texas... Are those coming this way? We havent gotten any rain here since yesterday morning.. I am in West Houston... Poor you guys in Galveston and LA~ Watch out, If these stroms move this way, we will be under the gun again~!

They just issued a Flash Flood Watch till 6 AM on Saturday... I dont know how to post it to this site.. So I am just passing it along.. Its for all Southeast Texas.. They say we are having a break now, but it will pick up again overnight... Be safe!!

I can't believe you haven't gotten any rain since yesterday morning!! You are only about 10 miles directly West of me and I woke up to rain and thunder and lightning this am. By the time I left for work we had already gotten about 3/4" of rain and it was pouring. I live about 2 miles N of I-10 just East of Gessner(North of Memorial City Mall).

I am about 7 miles North of 10, at HW6...I am at Barker Cypress and 529... We had some thunder this morning, but not much rain.. Just a light drizzle... looks like its getting dark out now... and I am not a heavy sleeper... lol.. just didnt get anything out here...
