Haven't you ever heard of a theneeestorm before? It's any storm with winds greater than 500 mph. Any storm with winds of 499 or less is a teeneestorm because it's smaller and not as severe.

I just want to know where to get a "NOAA WRANHAR RADIO FOR THE LATEST EAEEETWEATHER INFORMATION."

If they're sober, you Melbourne guys are in big trouble... better go tie down the patio furniture.

I side with Stormfury, but yet, it must be one heck of a thunderstorm! 955 mph winds  : :roflmao: :  :)

It is very like it was a transmission problem; I have seen similar occurences. Plus, that many misspellings???

Can you imagine the reign of confusion that would go on if Great One started issuing weather alerts and forecasts.... there would not be a state left that was not destroyed

I received this from NWS Melbourne this weekend.

Hi David,

With respect to the thread titled:

NWS Melbourne drinking at the keyboard?? at:
http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=32204

See the file here:

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/MLB/SVSMLB.0406262054

Apparently the SVS got mangled when it went to the IWIN
server, but it appears to have gone out to the rest of the world
OK. I checked AWIPS first thing when I got into work today
and the message was fine.

Wouldn't want you all to think we were slacking. ;-)

I did not post the entire email as some of it was personal to me. Suffice it to say this is a major part of the reason I try not get involved in any thread that can be construed as "flaming" our official agencies, as there is usually a good explanation for anything that seems wayward and overall they do a STELLAR JOB OF FORECASTING imo.

So, before we are quick to judge, and yes I understand that most of the above was tongue in cheek, we need to be sure of what we are saying and assuming. Just my $0.02 worth.

Great Post David. I just thought what I was reading was funny. Thats why I posted ROTFLMAO... I agree with Stormfury and knew it had to be some sort of difficulty in communications. I hope that person realizes we all have the utmost respect for NWS forecasters everywhere!!! Can you apologize for me on my Behalf. Thanks

Johnathan I imagine he will read your apology. I never let him know that the thread existed, so it goes without saying that at least some of the NWS mets do check out some of the weather sites on the internet and ours is obviously one of them.

Even though this particular thread did not "flame" as some others occasionally do(which will be removed if deemed necessary)it is a good example of why one of Storm2k's policies is to not allow "flaming" of our official agencies.
