That's how yesterday's flooding in Camden and Burlington Counties in NJ is being described. The Tabernacle/Medford area was hit with almost 13" of rain. There are main roads that are closed because they are still flooded out. There were 500 evacuations or rescues (I'm not sure on that), 8 dams broke and those counties are under a state of emergency. There were no injuries reported but alot of people can't get out of their homes or towns because of the situation. The local congressmen are applying for the area to be considered a "Federal Disaster" area.

Camden County is pretty well built up - there are alot of big towns in that county. Burlington County is twice the size of Camden and is a combination of suburban and farming towns. alot of where the rain hit was in farm territory, though in recent years, the developers have been chipping away at that. Now, we need to formally "preserve" a farm in order to protect it from being bought and developed. :grr:

Tell me about it. It was raining nonstop most of the day yesterday. Although we only got about 3.38", creeks/streets were flooding. With more scattered showers/thunderstorms the rest of the week possible, flooding may crank up again.

THERE goes the rain deficit :D

The deficit has been gone here Colin. Marty said that it rained hard here all day. They received about 4.5" of rain in Philadelphia.

Where I live, I am sandwiched between Wilmington, DE whcih had significant flooding as well plus a reported tornado and the Camden/Burlington county area. Gloucester County, where I am, is the next county to the west of Camden County, so I was pretty darn lucky!
