I just looked back at some old GFS maps/old posts saved - and the GFS actually showed the potential of snow 7 days in advance ... :o :o :o :o :o

It actually was onto something for a change. :o :o :o :o

All the mods hinted at this at one time or another. GFS had it, then lost it...common GFS issue.

ETA had it starting at 84 hours and never lost it. EC had the general idea as well..but I quit lookin at it at day 3.

I was sold on the idea due to the incredible jet. Some EC people were talking about being "dryslotted"...but in essnce there was a weak, elongated LP and intense VV's associated with the difluence. (EG..air rising to replace the air being displaced by the strong jet)

Stinks to waste this event in last march. Had it been late Jan,...8-15 inches or more with the incredible cold air aloft...(h85s were in the -5 range)

We had about .6 W/E after the change to snow...and the snow was never deeper then 3 inches. Had about 2, then compacted to 1...then another heavy bust and we maxed at 3...

I posted the possibilities as well in the Medium Range last weekend in regards to cold snaps, and seeing the possibility of Eastern NC snow as well ... then after Sunday, other things came up and was unable to continue with the updates...

Fortunately, our other members here held up the fort and did quite a good job with in regards to this system ...

Great job everyone.

Here in Winston Salem NC rain till about 8am yesteday, than began to mix with snow. By 10am all snow with huge wet flakes and that lasted until about 1p. The snow as accumulating on elevated surfaces and grassy areas but at 1p we had a change over to rain and the snow that managed to accumulate was no more. Thank goodness that is that for winter weather up here in NC for this Florida guy!!!! Have to wait until next winter to see what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.....Paul
