Massive trough invades East !

A cooler and much drier air mass will invade most of the Southeast Friday and over the upcoming weekend. The cooler and less humid air will make it as far south as central Florida. This air mass is more typical of late September than early August. The ECMWF shows a very impressive trough at 850 this weekend, with 12C over SC !!!! GFS also has the 564 thickness line drapped across northern SC Saturday, with a pretty strong gradient at 500mb this time of year. With surface high over the midwest and northerly flow, this should tanslate to about 82/60 in Summerville/CHAS Friday and SAT. Very impressive in early August ! Across the NE and middle Atlantic regions, temperatures will only rise into the 60s and 70s the next couple of days despite more sunshine than clouds. Near-record low temperatures are possible in some areas Friday night.

Day 10 shows a monster trough in the East. If this were Sept.14 instead of Aug.14 we'd have frost in the upper Plains and Great Lakes:

This is MY kind of invasion! It's 70°F, right now,
with a low humidity - insane for us, in August!
Supposed to get down to 51°F, tonight, possibly
setting a record low! I'm raising the windows!
