yep, yep, yep for me.

Congrats on taking a SkyWARN class. Suggest you bookmark this link and maybe print off some material in the "off-season"... very helpful when getting started:

Good luck.

I have a primitive weather station - an outdoor
thermometer and a rain gauge! No weather
website, but, I'm a certified Skywarn spotter.
And, don't hesitate to take another class for fun,
even though you're already certified. You'll find
facts that you might have missed, in the previous
class! ;)

Been a SKYWARN spotter for years, have my station, and post my daily temperature and rainfall stats on my homepage. In addition, I also have annual and monthly summaries of my data which goes back 17 years and post my own forecasts (being a retired Met). Also I occasionally post special topics of my own chiefly storm reports and summaries of my monsoon outlooks there as well.

My Wife bought me (us) a weather station in '03 for my b'day. Love playing with it and trying to learn this 'html' thing along the way to post to our website. http://www.casabenbrook.net/weather.htm

I am also a Skywarn Spotter for Central Indiana. Seeing I work most evenings, it kind of cuts into my chasing though :(

We have quite a few certified Skywarn spotters on the site. I am one of them. I haven't got the sation yet, but it is in the works. Kinda need to wait till it is easier to pay my bills before I spend that kind of money.

I just took the cert class a month or so ago. I plan on taking an advanced course when they have it available. Very imformative classes. Alot of them were cancelled due to all the massive flooding we experienced a month ago.

Currently have several weather related webpages online, mostly dealing with past U.S. hurricanes.

In regards to home weather stations....I have a Davis Weather Wizard III (since 2001); a Davis Vantage Pro (since last February); also have a new Inspeed Vortex anemometer for my chase vehicle.

My dad labeled me a weather nut when I was 17....I wonder why?

LOL. My parents labeled me that when I was 8 hehe. I still am :P :D

Hey ssmith nice website. I'm from Hampton and still have my parents living there and other friends. I'll definitely bookmark your site and check it out from time to time.

What is ironic is as a kid, I was so scared to death of storms that the sound of rain scared me to the point where I would bury my face in the pillow to keep from seeing Lightning or hearing Thunder. At times I would also pee the bed because of it.

NOW I CHASE TORNADIC STORMS!:)

Hi there...SKYWARN is a program that has stayed with NWS through many ups and downs. I have been a spotter for 37 years! Taught SKYWARN classes back in the early 1980's. Still call in storm reports to NWS Phoenix occassionally as needed here. Had a full blown weather station from 1974 through 1997, but now just have a rain gauge, handful of thermometers and barometers, and record only precip in my backyard! Would love to put an anemometer back up but the HOA would surely not approve!

In the late 1990's I was invited to review a report on National Weather Service modernization, and part of that had to do with standards for observers. Here's the link...

Enjoy your time studying weather!

SKYWARN Manager for Seminole County, Florida. I have a Davis II at home but either Charley, Frances or Jeanne screwed up the rain collector. For the poster that mentioned taking a CERT class GOOD FOR YOU! CERT is an awesome course for disaster preparation and response.
