Well here we go again everyone, another big storm is pounding southern California this evening. Rain and wind are intense in many areas, with some areas already reporting over 3 inches of rainfall.

In my location, we have noted 0.3" or so from warm advection pre frontal showers, and winds are starting to pick up in advance of the cold front. It is slated to arrive here early tomorrow morning. But there is a chance that the front could stall out just north of me in L.A. county; and if this happens then rainfall totals will be greatly enhanced.

I will keep you updated throughout the evening and into tomorrow for as long as I can stay awake.

Isn't this weather slightly unusual?

El Nino...

Yes it is unusual for our rainy season to start so early. In fact we already have more than our average October rainfall in just 3 days  .

Not only that but we are supposed to get 2-3 inches here from the one coming in tonight (according to the National Weather Service) so if that holds up we will pretty much wipe out our rainfall deficit since January 1st, which is currently just over 3 1/4". :)

Let's hope flooding doesn't become an issue though.

Punch hard it did. I lost power for a minute or two but it's been on since. *knock on wood* Hopefully it will stay on for now.

It is pouring like no tomorrow and it has been for the better part of 3 hours now. I would have a total but unfortunately my rain gauge fell over in the soggy ground and thus I didn't get to get a total from this storm. :( My carport flooded again but I didn't get any pics this time.

Have to (try to) get to bed as I've been up for 18 hrs now so see you all (hopefully) this afternoon! :)

I made it out alive. :D

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and concerns. :)

Lots of standing water, roof leaks, downed tree limbs, etc. that usually follows a major storm.

And I think I have found the cause of the power outage from early this morning. Seems a light pole at a car dealership down the street was knocked down or fell over somehow (I guess due to the high winds) so I suppose that caused our brief power outage. :?:
