Spotter, about your contests. I have an idea, that maybe more people would join. Ok how about instead of temperatures, because temperatures are boring, you do weather discussions for a city? What people think will happen in depth, even if its clearing sky! Like detailed forecasts featuring CINH levels, CAPE, helicity, etc throughout the day. Also check SPC to make sure people aren't cheating by copying and pasting, lol. But this kind of forecasting would be cool. even explaining why this city will be cold, or hot<---in fall or winter coming? Maybe! you never know, this year has been extreme! dangit HAARP project for changing our Jet Stream Weather! anyway, that would be a great contest! It will even "teach" people who read them how to forecast. Thanks ,and hope you like the idea. I would surely join!

Thanks for the idea chaser... I will indeed look into it. I think something like that would definatly come in great towards the spring and summer months. Then you can basically be forecasting the threat for severe weather.

I think that will make it worse. There is more interest in temperature forecasting than there is even know much about CINH levels, CAPE, helicity, etc.

There is a difference between copying and pasting the Storms Prediction Center and having to get an idea of the forecasting base for certain cities;
same is true for temperatures. For example, we can't automatically know that Boston is expecting highs in the mid 40's, when we don't know what
the weather pattern is, i.e. check the official forecast from the National Weather Service and/or other weather organizations.

That is a good point Tom. I guess when I first posted about that I wasn't thinking about everything, but that would actually take a lot longer to forecast. Which seems to be the main concern of most people.

how about 2 sections? one for temperature etc, and one for forecast in depth? that way people with time can do the forecast, and people with no time can do the quick temps. I for one love forecasting in depth.

Wx discussions sounds like a great idea. Could still include temp/cloud cover/pops etc. as well. I'd certainly get invovled then.
