Just a Houston layperson here, but I don't think I've ever seen such a long line of solid red in my life. Comments/ comparisons?

It has been a long long time since I have seen one this long and this solid!!! Frank Billingsley said it is the worst he has seen in two years.

It was pretty bad.. thank god it moved thru in a blink of an eye... Of course I can say that now that its all over.. lol..

On the radar that TWC showed last night, it looked like a long red SNAKE was crawling across Texas! I've never seen anything like that either.

It acted like abig red snake in many places too!!!

I heard on the news this am that Olla, LA was all but destroyed by a tornado last night. Have we gotten any links on that?

I remember seeing that red snake before (not in TX though) ... March, 1993!!

We had one heck of a night in Southeast LA. About two-three hours ahead of the line, we had numerous supercells exploding around the area. Our parish/county alone had four seperate tornado warnings involving four seperate storms. It was the same way across the rest of the area, one storm after another erupting from nothing to a full blown supercell in 15-20 mins. time. Unlike anything I've ever seen before. One to tell the grandkids about.

I think I've seen one this big go through the DFW Metro area. I think it was in 1996 or 1997, I don't know.

Big Time Squall Line!! Holy Crap!!

This was indeed a strong squall line but I have seen worse in Southeast, Texas. Back in May of 2002 we had one hit our area 10 miles West of Conroe that leveled numerous huge oaks and pine trees. All I heard were limbs snapping and debris hitting the side of our house. Power lines were down all over the area and huge oaks and pines laid across the road. Definately something I will not soon forget.

I have dealt with a derecho (a little different then what we are dealing with here) which stretched from the Nebraska / South Dakota border to Nothern Kansas. The thing moved from northeast Colorado to central Iowa, where it finally diminished 15 hours after its birth. This was in July 1993.
