Dr Greg Forbes on TWC said he never seen anything like it either...They were individual supercell thunderstorms which emerged into a large bow echo and associated comma head, and the whole thing was a rotating low pressure (convectively induced vort max)

This definitely compares to the North Carolina Tornadocane back in 1998.

You could see the rotation on the map when Carl Parker was reading the tornado warning issued for the St. Louis area earlier. :o

WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I'm glad i caught this post when i did. It was gonna be history soon enough! People in ST. Louis reaaaaaaally lucked out. Those poor folk south of them tho! And southern illinois! Eek! At least it has stopped spinning for the time being :)

rotation on intense storms in AZ where you could actually see the echo rotate but not on a scale or intensity such as this.

I have never seen anything like that before! Another super cell in MO last night had that same kind of rotation. It was weird to see the convection rotating just like a cane!
